Public Awareness and Recruitment
The public learns about children waiting to be adopted through the Center s extensive public awareness and recruitment program. Its efforts include close work with the media, nationally and regionally, to let people know that there are 114,000 children in this country who wait for permanent families because their parents cannot care for them.
The Center works closely with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Freddie mac Foundaation which have made adoption a top priority. Each November, during National Adoption Month, posters and trayliners featuring photos of waiting children are displayed at Wendy s restaurants throughout the country.

Information and Referral
The Center responds to more than 30,000 potential adopters each year.
Those requesting information may receive it online or may opt for printed materials to be mailed to them. Information on a wide variety of topics is available -- adopting children with special needs; single parent adoption; infant adoption; advocacy and adoption subsidy.
The Center also maintains resource lists of adoption agencies in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, and international agencies. Interested families can refer to these lists to connect with local adoption programs and begin the adoption process.
