U.S. Secret Service Coordinates Security for Papal Visit
April 17, 2008 - The U.S. Secret Service is coordinating the federal government’s security for Pope Benedict XVI during his six-day visit to Washington, D.C. and New York City.
Twenty-seven federal, state and local law enforcement and public safety agencies are involved in security for the pope’s visit to Washington. Other Department components involved include the U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal Protective Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Transportation Security Administration and the Office of Intelligence and Analysis.
