Kingston and St. Andrew Junior Library gets a boost from US Embassy Donation
The Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Library’s Junior Department received a boost on Thursday, April 17, 2008, when it received two computers, a printer and 500 books from the U.S. Embassy, through its Public Affairs Section.
Students of Mico Practising School who were on hand for the presentation were very excited about the library’s new stock of books which included classics such as The Complete Brothers Grimm Tales, The Red Badge of Courage and other stories, Twelve Rounds to Glory: The Story of Muhammad Ali, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, among others. In making the presentation, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy Patricia Attkisson encouraged the students to make good use of the books, and to develop a reading habit.

Inspector General of City of New Orleans to Discuss Ethics, Governance Issues in Jamaica
Robert Cerasoli, head of the Office of the Inspector General of the City New Orleans, will be in Jamaica from April 14-16 to discuss ethics, corruption and governance issues. His three-day visit is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and facilitated by the U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section.
Mr. Cerasoli, who has been Inspector General since September 2007, is responsible for establishing a full-time program of investigation, inspection and performance review to provide increased accountability and oversight of the city government entities and is empowered to prevent and detect fraud, abuse and illegal acts.
