State Department Issues Updated Travel Alert
April 14, 2008 - “Mexico remains an important tourist destination for U.S. citizens, with over twelve million Americans visiting Mexico each year for business, vacation, or to visit family and friends. It is important that these visitors have accurate and current information to make wise decisions in order to avoid potentially dangerous situations. For this reason, the State Department has revised and reissued a Travel Alert for Mexico to provide travelers with up-to-date information.” (complete text)
New Applicant Service Center for Visas
Monterrey, NL April 8, 2008 --- In order to maintain a minimal waiting time to receive an appointment for a visa interview, the U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey will require visa applicants to begin visa processing at a new Applicant Service Center (ASC) (This measure does not affect H2 visa applicants). This requirement will take effect on April 18, 2008. Applicants will enroll at the ASC prior to their visa interview at the Consulate. The interview at the Consulate must be on a subsequent business day and cannot be on the same day the applicant visits the ASC. This pilot program began successfully last month at the U.S. Consulate in Nuevo Laredo. More Information.
