Ambassador Bordonaro Visits St. Martin s Sixth Form in Swatar

The sixth form students of St. Martin s in Swatar enthusiastically welcomed Ambassador Bordonaro in their school library, where a group of 50 students warmly received her. The Ambassador presented books about educational opportunities available in the United States to Mr. Patrick Padovani, Head of the Senior School, as a gift from the people of the United States. Mr. Padovani expressed his and the students appreciation for the gift to the Ambassador and then gave her a tour of the school. The Ambassador thanked the school for the visit and encouraged the students to visit the United States.

As part of the Embassy s School Program, Cultural Attaché Cynthia Ehrlich gave a presentation on the instrumental role that women played in the Civil Rights Movement in the United States to a group of about 40 students of the Sir Luigi Preziosi Girls Secondary School. Ms. Ehrlich began with an overview of the 1963 March for Jobs and Freedom by presenting "The March," a record of the event ending with the renowned, "I Have A Dream" speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She explained how this march was the culmination of the long history of the involvement of many women, largely unknown, in civil disobedience, protests, and boycotts because they were sincerely interested in making a difference, with no expectation of recognition, and whose efforts eventually were rewa...
