Consul General Sharon A. Wiener Gives Keynote Address to Robert College Model UN General Assembly

Consul General Sharon Wiener addressed over 400 student delegates from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Germany and Russia as the keynote speaker at the opening of the International Model UN Conference held at Robert College. The theme of this year s Conference was "Global Partnerships: Forging Links Between Nations". The Consul General gave her remarks on the history of U.S.-UN relations and U.S. policy related to the UN to a group of young leaders interested in international affairs. The First Alaskan Native Art Exhibition in Istanbul

Jno Didrickson, a Native American born in Juneau, Alaska, and belonging to the Tlingit tribe on his mother s side, opened his Alaskan Native art exhibition, the first of its kind in Turkey, at the Teksin Art Gallery in Istanbul. Alaskan Artist Jno Didrickson opened his first native artwork exhibition in Istanbul. An interview by Turkish Daily News ran a striking story of the artist s and Native Americans artworks. The exhibition was also reported by NTV s Gunduz & Gece (Night and Day) Cultural Program and NTV Radio.
The exhibit showed that art connects and speaks to people from different continents. The viewers were impressed by his objects representing Pasific Nothwest native artwork.
