Youth tour the frigate USS John L. Hall in the Casablanca Port
On January 25, students from Ben M’sik, La Residence, and Sidi Moumen high schools toured the USS John L. Hall at the Casablanca Port. The students toured the vessel, learned about the ship’s history, and learned about its participation in joint military exercises with the Moroccan navy. They also had the opportunity to meet and interact with sailors on board the ship.

Peace Director Bruce Kohen
On January 14, Bruce Cohen the director of Peace Corps Morocco briefed students on Peace Corps activities and programs in Morocco. Mr. Cohen also stressed the U.S. government’s commitment to assisting Morocco in its development needs and answered student questions which ranged from why Americans volunteer to serve in rural Morocco to how Peace Corps obtain authorization to operate in the country to what are the priority sectors for Peace Corps volunteers in Morocco. In addition, he pointed out that Morocco was among the first countries to invited the Peace Corps to assist in its development and manpower needs. A group of 53 surveyors, English teachers, and irrigation experts first arrived in Morocco in 1963 at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
