U.S. - Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission reaches to the South
Colombo, April 18, 2008: Early this month the U.S.-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission (US-SLFC) launched an educational advisory service project in association with Mahinda College, Galle and its Past Pupils’ Association. The primary purpose of the US- SLFC is the furtherance of mutual understanding between peoples of Sri Lanka and the United States through mutual educational exchange programs.
“I am pleased to be a part of this pioneering effort of the Fulbright Commission to reach out to the student community in the South,” said U.S. Ambassador Robert Blake at the launching ceremony. (More)
United States Welcomes Release of Children
Colombo – April 10, 2008: The United States welcomes the release on April 7 of eleven children by the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP). We commend the efforts of the Government of Sri Lanka, UNICEF, and other parties to bring about this release and their commitment to providing counseling, rehabilitation, and training that will enable former child soldiers to become productive members of society.
