Why Open
For those of you who chose an open adoption, why was that your choice
Does it work Is it harder than you thought it would be
Do you think it was the right choice for you

The adoption of my daughter was the hardest decision that I have ever had to make in my life. For a while there, I was having second thoughts on everything, but I know that I did the right thing. It was really difficult when I moved out in January, since I had been the main caregiver for my daughter from her birthday in October, until the end of January. We had already signed the papers, but my daughter’s grandmother (her amom) wanted me to have that special bonding time that you can only get from taking care of your child. Now, I see Laina, and she grabs my face and does her little baby scoot over to me and it’s just the best feeling in the world. The open adoption was definitely the best choice for me, because I know my daughter and she knows me. I can still go to school, finish high school, go to college, and in essence, be a kid. But I can also still be a mother.
